Accounting Clerk

Summary:

Is flexibility and a positive work environment important to you?  We are seeking a highly organized and technologically savvy Accounting Clerk to provide comprehensive accounting and administrative support for our Chief Financial Officer and Agency. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail and be adept at utilizing various technologies.  Responsibilities  include data entry, processing invoices, payroll assistance, reconciliations, reporting, digital record keeping of financial documents, and general clerical duties as needed.  The successful candidate should be able to work independently on assigned tasks. Full-time or Part-time hrs. /Non-Exempt. Salary $18.27 -$21/hour. Based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of accounting and clerical functions.
  • Handle  accounts payable tasks, including opening, sorting, and recording invoices. 
  • Collaborate with other staff to obtain clarification regarding data distribution over programs and agency accounts.
  • Review expenses for  reasonableness and ensure that accounting documents have proper support for transactions.
  • Record business transactions and input data into general ledger system on a daily basis.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures and reconciliations as required.
  • Handle posting of deposits, assist with banking needs.
  • Attend all staff meetings and participate in staff development as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff and provide coverage as requested.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by supervisor and leadership.

Education and Experience: 

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree plus 2-3 years’ experience in an administrative support position or related experience. Previous experience in accounting, finance, or other related fields preferred. Must have excellent organizational and technological skills.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel.  Experience in Donor Perfect and Abila/MIP in accounting software.  Must be comfortable with general office equipment such as fax, printer, and office phone system.
